Volleyball is an exhilarating team sport played by two teams of six players, separated by a net. The objective is to score points by grounding a ball on the opposing team’s court while adhering to organized rules. Since its inclusion in the Summer Olympic Games in 1964, volleyball has become a popular global sport, celebrated for its fast-paced action and strategic gameplay.
How the Game is Played
The game begins with one team serving the ball from behind the back boundary line over the net into the receiving team’s court, initiating a rally. The receiving team must prevent the ball from hitting the ground within their court. Teams are allowed a maximum of three touches to return the ball, and individual players cannot touch the ball twice in succession. The first two touches are typically utilized to set up an attack, aiming to direct the ball back over the net to score points against the opposing team.
