Handball, also known as team handball or Olympic handball, is an exciting team sport that involves two teams of seven players each—six outfield players and one goalkeeper—competing to score goals by passing a ball using their hands. The objective is to throw the ball into the opposing team’s goal, which is situated at each end of a standard court measuring 40 by 20 meters (131 by 66 feet). A typical match consists of two 30-minute periods, and the team that scores the most goals wins.

Gameplay and Rules:
- Each team aims to score by throwing the ball from outside a designated 6-meter (20 feet) zone surrounding the goal, where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed.
- Players can score goals by either throwing the ball into the goal or diving into the zone while in possession of the ball.
- The game is fast-paced and high-scoring, with professional teams typically scoring between 20 and 35 goals in a match.
Handball is primarily played indoors, though outdoor variants such as field handball and beach handball exist. The sport encourages body contact, with defenders working to impede attackers from approaching the goal. While no specific protective equipment is mandated, players often choose to wear soft protective bands, pads, and mouthguards for added safety.
